Dr Peter Galgut

Peter Galgut qualified as a dentist in 1971, and gained a MSc with distinction in Periodontology in 1983. Subsequently he obtained the MRD (Membership in Restorative Dentistry) and also the MFGDP of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was awarded a MPhil in acknowledgement of his research in biomaterials and wound healing. In addition, he has a Diploma of Dental Homœopathy awarded by the Faculty of Homœopathy at the Royal National Homœopathic Hospital, London .
Dr Galgut established his practice devoted entirely to the treatment of periodontal conditions, and preventative care. Concurrently he was the Director of the School of Dental Hygiene at University College Hospital. He has worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Eastman Dental Institute, researching dental calculus and subjects related to preventative dental care. He has published over 120 papers arising out of his work. Dr Galgut lectures and leads seminars on Periodontology. He is the primary author in a published text book on periodontics entitled "Periodontics: Current Concepts and Treatment Strategies", Martin Dunitz, London , 2001, ISBN: 1-85317-981-7: available from Amazon.
Dr Galgut is currently conducting a series of courses on Practical Periodontics for Dental Practitioners throughout the UK. He runs a course for Hygienist Extended Duties across the UK.
Dr Galgut retains membership of the British Society of Periodontology, the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Academy of Periodontology, the Western Society of Periodontology, the European Federation of Periodontology, the British Dental Association and the British Dental Health Foundation, to ensure that his treatments reflects the most up to date trends in current thinking in Periodontology. He is the consultant for the Gum Disease Information Bureau.
Dr John Furniss
BDS (Lond), M.Sc (Lond), DDPHIRCS (Eng)
John Furniss qualified in 1967 at University College Hospital where he worked first as a House Surgeon, and subsequently as registrar in Paediatric Dentistry. In his early career he specialised in Paediatric and also Special Needs Dentistry. He gained his DDPHRCS in 1976. He returned again to UCH to study periodontology and was awarded his MSc in 1985.
Dr Furniss established the first Periodontal referral clinic within the Community Dental Services in the UK in 1991.
Dr Furniss has a special interest in treating periodontal problems with diabetes and also providing smoking cessation advice. He has developed a system for measuring periodontal treatment outcomes.
Dr Furniss is a member of the British Society of Periodontology, the International Academy of Periodontology and the British Dental Association. |
